The Sunset Shows w/ Girl in Red
4.4.19
MONTRÉAL
What better way to be introduced to a new artist than by hearing their music live in a crowd of people? Marie Ulven, stage name Girl in Red, was cool. Engaging banter and rockstar hairflips. But the excitement in the concert venue hit a high when our beautiful boy, Conan, danced onto stage to the opening sounds of Generation Why. I turned to my friends, wide-eyed, I couldn't believe it (and still can't, really). We all pulled out our best, most fun dance moves. I lost myself to the night. Nights spent at concerts are honestly some of my happiest moments! Being there in that cozy, crowded room with my head on my friends shoulder, I felt so good. It was different than the last concert I had been to, high up in a stadium watching Taylor Swift and her dancers down below.
In between songs, Conan talked to us about our city and his songs. He can speak French we learned, as he demonstrated by saying jokingly Puis-je aller aux toilettes?. Being on tour, being away from your friends and home, things can get lonely. That's what his unreleased song, Comfort Crowd , is about.
I'm so glad, and grateful, to have been able to see that cute, badass boy in person <333 My only complaint is that it was over too soon! :)
