Journaling - 3 Ways
Two summers ago, I took up journaling. Now, I am on the verge of finishing my fourth notebook. The first two flew by, as I sat down at my desk as often as possible to write. The two that followed, though, have taken more time to complete; this fourth one being one year in the making. I am still as fond of journaling as I was two years ago, and thought I might take this opportunity to write about the various ways to approach it. I think that that - how journaling can be done to fit all sorts of needs - is part of the reason I, and so many others, find it so appealing. Interested in journaling, but don't really know where to start? Let me show you some of the different approaches.
Art journal
This, as I mentioned, is the first form of journaling I took on. In the slideshow, I have inserted some of my earlier attempts at art journaling. Cute, huh? I find it very pleasing to release your emotions in this manner, because it leaves for pages that are visually attractive. It is also just such fun to sit down with your art supplies and make a day of it. You can use practically anything (depending on the thickness of your pages and all that), like paint, stickers and photographs. I find it particularly helpful if you have some magazines to cut out from. Which makes me think, you can totally collage, too!
Bullet journal
I know a lot of people favor this style because it's handy and helps you get a grip on your life. It is called a bullet journal in reference to its rapid logging system, with different symbols identifying specific needs. For example, "o" bullets represent events and stars (*) are the symbol used to give importance to an already existing bullet (https://bulletjournal.com/pages/learn). In your bullet journal, you can keep track of your fitness training, budget and spendings, and your when your assignments are due in all your classes. Basically, think of it as your own personalized agenda, started from scratch.
Diary
This is the good ole way of journaling, and my favorite one, too. It's good to set yourself a time to simply sit down and write it all out. This can be a great space to vent and to muse. And really there is not much else to say about it!
There is not necessarily one way to journal, and these are not the only ways to do it. You might also find it fun to mix up how you journal every so often, like mixing a diary entry with some of your art.
