Preppy Fashion

"Always looking A+"

Hi Everyone!

The next style of fashion we'll be exploring is preppy fashion, a style that encompasses a significant size of my Stardoll wardrobe. Like my previous post, this is a style that 2015 me experienced a little obsession over.

Preppy fashion is characterised by a prim, proper and put together appearance. My impression of the style is one that can only be described as classic. I took a little visit to Dr Google before writing this post and learned that Preppy/prep originated from the styles of well-to-do, private Northeastern American university students, emerging around 50's and 60's. Not exactly where I expected, I'll be honest.

My go-to preppy looks

Stardoll has a multitude of items spread throughout Starplaza which can be used to create a preppy wardrobe, but my recommendation for the easiest place to start would be Pearls.

In terms of looking for style inspiration, one person who immediately springs to mind is Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl. She's rarely seen anywhere without a dress or skirt, and proves that she can be sophisticated and bold with her sleek pairings and signature pops of colour. She makes sure she always looks her best, no matter the occasion.

Men can also dress preppy too. No, not in a dress or a skirt, though if you really want to that's totally up to you. Classic cuts and good tailoring are essential. Choose pieces such as cableknit sweaters, button ups, blazers, polo shirts and chinos. Like Blair Waldorf, men can also mix a multitude of colours, but you can never go wrong with classics like maroon, sand and blues.

Finally, if you want to find some brands to lead you on your way to a preppy style in real life, check out Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. What are your thoughts on Preppy fashion?

Take care,

Joanne
