Fashion Watch!: Fall/Winter 2018
As the year slowly progresses in the fall and winter season, temperatures will change, and of course, wardrobes will change. We all have this one crisis of not knowing what to wear and how to catch on with the mainstream fashion trends. In this blog post, I'll show you three outfits that you can recreate on Stardoll, and in real life.
These three outfits all have two common trends in them - modesty, and the color red. All of the outfits have a red element to it, and cover up, which you can alter based on your preference.
The runways on New York, Paris, London all graced us with what the hottest fashion companies from Balmain to Stella McCartney have been designing. A variety of trends have been popping up, from checkered prints, to red tones, to modesty, it truly is different from last year. There are spotlights of 80's fashion in some of the trends, but most of them are powerful and have a message behind it.
For example, the modesty trend was inspired by the #Time'sUp movement that took the Hollywood and global world by storm. In a post #Time'sUp era, many fashion designers experimented with feminine fashion and soon decided that the silhouette was to be covered-up, much like Maison Margiela. Balenciaga played with extreme layers, while models wore collared shirts and stockings over Erdem's dresses, hemlines low and necklines high. To Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, tailoring was a big change. Nevertheless, modesty has persuaded the majority of fashion brands to be included in their collections, with Christopher Kane and Saint Laurent being one of the few that didn't.
The outfit shown on the left has a variety of trends that were seen on the runway. Cowboy boots, mini handbags, headwear and prints are some to name. I particularly like the poncho and the pants, because they match and bring a new dimension to the outfit,

The second outfit on the right plays around with layers, silhouettes, and color schemes. This outfit includes the trend of shoulder-touching-earrings, layers, oversized items, and leather. I have fallen in love with the jacket and how it matches with the pants and the colors, it adds a masculine and rebellious vibe to the overall outfit. The red adds a nice accent, and the earrings makes the outfit have a new dimension.
Lesson learned: Shoulder length earrings make outfits go to a new level.

The final outfit is mainly inspired by Erdem's collection of evening dresses being layered under by high necklines and stockings. I really wanted to bring the attention to the red pieces of the outfit, but still tone it down a notch. This look is perfect for a day-to-day work, and for the nightclub when you want to cool of with a few shots of vodka.
Lesson learned: If you're afraid to show, cover it up with a top or a pair of stockings!

In conclusion, modesty, the color red, and many other trends have taken the fashion world over by storm, and many people are catching on to it. In my opinion, my favorite trend would have to be the modesty trend, because it has such a powerful message behind it, and it inspires people as well.
